Microsoft Server 2008 and Windows 7 have done a great job, but it's time to for them to retire. Microsoft plans to phase out the extended support for these product on January 14, 2020. That's just months away!
"End of Support" refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic bug fixes, security updates, additional features or online technical assistance. This means your systems are on their own. If a new security issue is identified by Microsoft, you will not receive an automatic fix for it. This means any system you have running these operating systems will be out of HIPAA compliance. It's time to think about an upgrade sooner rather than later.
